CompTIA launches online testing to ease certification amid coronavirus outbreak

CompTIA partners with Pearson VUE to provide secure, online testing options

In March, CompTIA announced it would soon launch remote testing to make getting certified possible while social distancing. Today, this it becomes official. In partnership with Pearson VUE, CompTIA has launched an "anytime, anywhere" online testing option for its certification exams. This move provides its students with the opportunity to receive their IT certifications from the comfort and safety of their homes.

Using Pearson VUE's OnVUE online proctoring solution, the online testing option for CompTIA exams will be in English and will be made available to most users around the world. A few notable exceptions include China, Cuba, Japan, Iran, North Korea, South Korea, Sudan, Syria and Slovenia.

"Current and prospective IT professionals, students, career changers and others whose plans have been put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic can resume their studies and schedule their exams with the full confidence that we're here when they're ready to take their test," said Todd Thibodeaux, president and CEO of CompTIA.

"They'll do so on a platform that delivers a rich user experience and robust security protection, all from the privacy and security of their home," Thibodeaux continued. "This is a great advancement for our global certification program. We're extremely pleased to work with our longtime partner Pearson VUE to deliver online testing to candidates around the world."

Online tests will be available for all CompTIA certifications except Certified Technical Trainer (CTT+). Students can schedule tests at their convenience, and remote proctoring will ensure all students are tested using the same monitoring conditions they would have at a CompTIA test center.

CompTIA will continue offering online testing once test centers are cleared to open, giving learners the option of online or in-person tests.
