HCL expands its AI and cyber security presence in the UK
The Indian-based company is hiring 1,000 technology professionals in its London and Manchester offices
HCL is hiring 1,000 technology professionals in the UK to support its clients in the country and around the world, as part of an initiative to create stronger business ties between the UK and India.
During a virtual meeting to convey this commitment, the company revealed plans to hire professionals in the fields of digital transformation, cloud, artificial intelligence (AI), and cyber security for its London and Manchester offices, as well as welcoming the UK’s aid to India by PM Boris Johnson in light of the current COVID-19 crisis.
The meeting was held as part of PM Boris Johnson’s virtual tour to create stronger business ties between the UK and India. During the meeting, HCL CEO C Vijayakumar reaffirmed the company’s commitment to the UK, highlighting HCL’s successful partnerships with many of the UK’s largest corporations to assist them on their growth and transformation journeys.
“The UK has played a key role in HCL’s growth and success journey for more than two decades,” said Vijayakumar. “It is home to some of our most prestigious clients and is a hotbed of IT talent. By creating new local jobs in the region, we want to reaffirm our commitment to catalyzing innovation and building competitive digital talent pools in the region.”
HCL has been present in the UK since 1997 and currently employs over 3,500 people across various locations in the country.

“India and the UK are two countries on the forefront of IT innovation. Thanks to companies like HCL Technologies, we can continue to lead the way together – creating good, skilled jobs and helping both countries to build back better,” said Johnson.
Earlier this month, a number of India-based tech companies announced new investment and job creation into the UK. Infosys and HCL Technologies together are set to create 2,000 digital jobs. This came as part of an “Enhanced Trade Partnership” between the UK and India, which also will see over £533 million of new Indian investment into the UK.
Other Indian tech companies will create jobs too, including Wipro, which will create 500, and MPhasis, which will create 1,000.
