Datto acquires Israeli cyber security specialist BitDam
The firm says the deal represents an "important step on our security journey"

Cloud-based solutions provider Datto has bolstered its cyber security capabilities with the acquisition of cyber threat detection firm BitDam.
Israel-based BitDam’s cyber defence platform protects collaboration tools such as Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace from ransomware, malware, and phishing.
Datto says the acquisition represents an "important step on our security journey” and follows hot on the heels of the recent launch of Ransomware Detection in the Datto RMM platform.
“Both deliver new revenue and margin opportunities to our 17,000 MSP partners just as cyber attacks on SMBs are proliferating,” commented Tim Weller, CEO of Datto.
“We welcome the elite BitDam security team to Datto as we continue to execute on an ambitious security roadmap for our partners.”
Datto’s cloud-based Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) platform enables MSPs to remotely monitor, manage, and support all of their endpoints, ultimately helping to reduce cost and increase the efficiency of service delivery.
According to the firm’s own annual Global State of the Channel Ransomware Report, however, MSPs continue to report phishing as a key pain point and the most common cause of successful ransomware breaches.
Now, leveraging its patented knowledge-dependent tech, the addition of BitDam’s cloud-native solution BitDam ATP+ will help offer complete security against attacks of any type across Office 356 email and other collaboration tools.
The offering is built to stop zero-day threats, proactively defending against malware and phishing attacks within a user’s inbox, chat or cloud drive - including threats that do not match any known malware signatures, the company says.
“We are thrilled to be joining the Datto team to help shape the security roadmap for MSPs as threats evolve globally,” said Liron Barak, co-founder and CEO of BitDam.
“Thanks to the talented BitDam team, whose excellence in cybersecurity technology innovation has led our journey here, our patented technologies can help protect cloud-based remote workforces from unknown cyber threats at an even great scale through Datto.”
