SSC acquires Civica’s Licensing and Cloud Software Lifecycle business
European IT services specialist snaps up Civica’s LCSL team, customers and partners

SCC has announced the acquisition of Civica’s Licensing and Cloud Software Lifecycle (LCSL) business, as the European IT services giant moves to boost growth of its UK software services.
The takeover includes Civica’s LCSL team and existing customer and partner relationships, which SCC says will increase its presence in the Cloud Software Lifecycle market. The move will also strengthen its software licensing and software asset management (SAM) businesses.
“We’re excited to welcome Civica’s talented team into SCC, and we look forward to meeting customers old and new as this acquisition helps us to drive growth in a key strategic area,” commented James Rigby, SCC chief executive.
IT services giant SCC combines leading technologies from over 600 unique vendors with its own business and integration expertise to help support customers across commercial and public sectors.
With this acquisition, the firm is adding Civica’s expertise in providing software applications for public sector services, accumulated through 30 years of delivering sector-specific software to government and justice, local government, housing, healthcare, and education. Civica’s LSL customers include local councils, universities, and housing associations.
“The depth of Civica’s knowledge, capability and customer relationships presents a wonderful opportunity to complement our existing software business,” Rigby continued. “By joining SCC, Civica’s team gain access to a larger market and support team.”
Wayne Story, Civica chief executive, said the business is well placed to capitalise on growth opportunities as public sector digitalisation powers on.
“With over 22 years of unbroken growth, fuelled by year-on-year investment, we’ve established ourselves as a leading provider of trusted, innovative software for public sector organisations in the UK and around the world,” he said.
“As the pace of public sector digitalisation continues to accelerate, our continued investment in innovative software will ensure we capitalise on these exciting opportunities for growth. Our market leading software offering for public sector organisations will support them on their journeys of transformation and ensuring they can deliver more for the people and communities they serve.”
