HPE has announced the appointment of Simon Ewington as its new vice president of Worldwide Distribution, as the tech giant looks to continue to drive long-term growth with partners.

Ewington takes over the role from George Hope, who now serves the business as worldwide head of Partner Sales.

The pair will work closely to help distributors further monetise and embrace as a service selling strategies, as well as helping shared channel partners deliver business outcomes to customers, Hope said in a blog post.

With three decades' worth of experience at the firm, Ewington brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the role, having previously helped enable HPE's channel transformation from a transactional to an outcome-focused business.

His track record of driving consistent growth also makes him a natural leader for HPE's worldwide distribution business, Hope said.

"Simon brings deep channel experience and a partner-first approach to this new role. He is a results-oriented leader with proven expertise in change management across volume and value categories," he explained.

"He’s consistently demonstrated his ability to drive high-performing teams - both direct and virtual - across international borders, and successfully nurture key customer relationships."

Ewington joined Hewlett-Packard back in 1993, going on to hold a number of international managerial positions – including Distribution and Channel Sales Leader EMEA between 2014 and 2017.

Most recently the company veteran led the Graphics Solutions Business at HP Inc, where he was responsible for managing a significant volume of channel-led business.

"As more than 80% of our indirect business goes through distribution, I’m confident in Simon's ability to help drive long-term, sustainable, and profitable growth with partners - executing on HPE's edge-to-cloud platform as a service vision," Hope added.
