Tech Data wins Europe distribution deal for Google Glass Enterprise Edition 2
Tech Data partners will now be able to build solutions with the tech in mind

Tech Data has been appointed by Google as an authorised distribution partner for Glass Enterprise Edition 2 in Europe.
The agreement will enable Tech Data's partners in the region to access and build solutions with the wearable device in mind, which is designed to improve efficiency of employees across a broad range of industries.
“Glass Enterprise Edition 2 is a ground-breaking product that revolutionises the way that hands-on professionals can communicate, collaborate and learn in real-time while carrying out their daily work,” commented Luc van Huystee, vice president, Mobility and Consumer Electronics Solutions, Europe at Tech Data.
Released last year, Glass Enterprise Edition 2 is built on the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon XR1 platform and sports a modern artificial intelligence engine – which Google says enables significant power savings, enhanced performance and support for computer vision and advanced machine learning capabilities.
Built on Android, the tech also features an improved camera over its predecessor model, which builds on existing first-person video streaming and collaborative features.
Ultimately, Glass Enterprise Edition 2 aims to enhance productivity and real-time communication for frontline professionals across vertical industries such as retail, manufacturing, healthcare field services, and logistics.
The device can be worn throughout the working day, serving up glanceable, voice-activated assistance that enables two-way communication, just-in-time training, as well as “see what I see” functionality to help with problem-solving.
With the headset compatible with a variety of software solutions, Tech Data says it will be able to help partners build bespoke solutions for end customers’ specific business requirements by drawing on its extensive software portfolio and the Tech Data Software Store platform for provisioning, licensing, and renewals.
“We are really excited to further expand our assisted and virtual reality solutions portfolio and to help Google to launch this product into the European IT and telecommunication channels,” van Huystee added. “We look forward to helping our partners to build exciting and impactful solutions for their end customers.”
