Cohesity hires new sales chief for Western Europe

Andrew Fitzgerald brings over 30 years of sales experience to the company

Cohesity has announced the appointment of Andrew Fitzgerald as its new sales director for Western Europe and sub-Saharan Africa, as the data management firm looks to drive growth in the regions.

Based in the UK, Fitzgerald is charged with leading the company’s business development strategy across the European and African markets and push its modern data management capabilities to partners.

He arrives with more than 30 years of IT solution sales experience across major enterprise IT businesses, including Palo Alto NetworksNetAppIBM, Sun Microsystems and Hitachi Data Systems. Cohesity said the addition of Fitzgerald’s expertise will help the firm expand in both the Western European and African markets.

“We’re thrilled to have Andrew join the team. With over 30 years enterprise go-to-market experience, he’s a valuable addition to our organisation,” commented Dirk Marichal, Cohesity’s vice president of sales for EMEA. “The role will see Andrew drive sales in the UK and Ireland, but also in Sub-Saharan Africa, where customers are looking for a modern approach to data management.

“These are two very different markets with unique complexities and differing economies, but Andrew has experience in these regions from his previous roles. I’m confident he’ll have a significant impact with driving local sales, working hand-in-hand with partners, and in doing so furthering the EMEA contribution to worldwide growth.”

Fitzgerald’s deep understanding of the data management sector will play a key role in helping businesses address mass data fragmentation challenges, where data is trapped in silos that make it hard to protect, expensive to manage and difficult to analyse, Cohesity explained. The firm’s platform unifies these data silos, simplifying backup and management while making data more productive on-premises and in the cloud.

“Cohesity is disrupting the data management industry,” Fitzgerald said. "I’m looking forward to working with customers and partners to really unlock the capability of the data they own and keep it safe and recoverable.

“We have an exceptional solution that makes it easier for organisations to back up, manage, and derive value from their data. I am excited to extend our presence in Western Europe and in Africa while helping businesses across these regions accelerate their transformation.”
