What to expect from Hitachi Vantara Next 2019
Partner summit leads the charge for the company’s annual conference

Let it never be said that the channel is unloved by enterprise suppliers. This coming Tuesday, 8 October, I'll be in sunny Las Vegas for the first day of Hitachi Vantara's Next conference, which kicks off with an afternoon dedicated entirely to partners.
For four hours the company will lay out how, through partnerships, it can "open doors and create solutions in today's industry landscape".
So far, so vague. However, in general, we know a few things are on the agenda: Big Data, edge computing, digital transformation, data centre hardware (of course) and the cloud.
What does this mean for the channel? Well as ever with these things, we can expect an update on the company's channel programme and performance. At the very least, I feel we will hear about some tweaks to what's already in place, but I'm not getting the feeling there will be a major overhaul. After all, it's only a little over 12 months since the company introduced a new partner programme following its 2017 creation from the unification of Hitachi Data Systems, Pentaho and Hitachi Insight Group.
Nevertheless, there will certainly be some new products to dig into, whether that's data centre hardware, containers and other cloud-focused software, as well as the latest on its Internet of Things (IoT) and edge efforts.
The company is also leaning hard on the idea of "DataOps" – its take on Big Data analytics and information governance – so expect there to be some product and project announcements in that arena.
Your intrepid reporter will be on the ground at Vantara Next from the opening of the doors on Tuesday afternoon until it's time to make my way home again on Thursday afternoon. Be sure to check back regularly for all the latest channel news from the event, as well as following us on Twitter.
