Colt will add six new halls to North London data centre
An increase to 10 halls means the multi-tenant colocation facility can serve more customers

Colt Data Centre Services has revealed it's going to install six new data halls at its London North facility as part of a huge expansion project to double its total computing power.
In all, the company wants its London North data centre to comprise 10 halls, which will provide an additional 30 megawatts (MW) of power compared to where it's at with its four halls currently. This means the entire site will increase the total IT power supply to more than 40MW.
"London North is one of our busiest data centres due to the scale and location of the facility. With demand for cloud services growing exponentially, we are investing heavily in this facility to expand our data centre facilities to serve our customers better," said Detlef Spang, CEO at Colt DCS.
The first of the four halls at the facility are being used fully by tenants, so Colt wanted to make sure it's continuing to service customers by offering them the opportunity to buy space in its new multi-tenant colocation facility.
The North London data centre offers a lower PUE than the industry standard at
"We are committed to providing our customers with carrier-neutral connectivity services on demand," Spang added. "Our strategic alliances with the array of carriers, cloud service providers and internet exchanges we are working with globally allows us to provide a secure gateway for our customers to scale and expand into new markets and business opportunities."
The first two halls in Colt Data Service's expansion drive are due to be completed by the first quarter of 2019, while the other four are on track for opening by the end of the second quarter.
