Cohesity teams up with AWS for new DMaaS offering
Service will provide a "radically simple" way to backup, secure and analyse data
Cohesity has announced a new strategic collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to bring a new data management as a service (DMaaS) solution to the market.
The offering will provide more options for mid-size and enterprise customers, the firm says, delivering a "radically simple" way to backup, secure, govern and analyse their data.
"This collaboration between Cohesity and AWS shows a continued commitment to bringing data management solutions to enterprise and mid-size customers that provide unmatched simplicity, flexibility, and reduced total cost of ownership," commented Mohit Aron, CEO and Founder of Cohesity.
As part of the collaboration, Cohesity and AWS Partner Network (APN) are investing in resources to design the DMaaS solution on AWS, as well as to engage in joint go-to-market activities, Cohesity said. Amazon has also made an equity investment in the data management firm.
"Cohesity and AWS are also focused on helping customers derive value from data," Aron continued. "Through AWS, customers can access a wealth of AWS services, including Amazon Macie, to help customers meet compliance needs, and Amazon Redshift for analytics."
Set to be available in the UK in the first half of 2021, the new DMaaS offering will be built upon Cohesity Helios - a SaaS-based platform that currently helps more than 1,500 customers manage and act on their data.
Customers will be able to manage data infrastructure themselves - whether that's in the data centre, at the edge or in the cloud - or where associated infrastructure is managed for them. Those that require a hybrid combination of both will also be able to do so.
With the DMaaS solution, customers will be able to subscribe to discrete data management offerings that address a wide range of use cases from a single provider, as well as utilise advanced security and ransomware detection.
The offering also promises simple data management for existing on-premise and cloud environments, as well as the policies for data through Cohesity Helios, while consumption-based pricing provides cost predictability and eliminates over-provisioning, Cohesity says.
Lastly, once on AWS, customers can take advantage of AWS' cloud-based services to ensure compliance, enhance security and extract additional insights and business intelligence through machine learning and analytics.
In terms of the channel, Cohesity is adding the DMaaS offering as an SKU so it can be ordered via a distributor using the standard quote and order process, with partners able to submit opportunity registration requests on the Cohesity Partner Portal. Partners will also be able to leverage the AWS Marketplace Private Offer process, Cohesity says.
"Working with Cohesity, we are charting a new course in how data is managed in an as a service model, leveraging disruptive, modern data management capabilities from Cohesity, and industry-leading cloud services from AWS," said Doug Yeum, Head of Worldwide Channels and Alliances at AWS.
