Schneider Electric launches landmark Managed Power Service scheme

It aims to give partners the tools to build their own Managed Power Service practices

Digital transformation company Schneider Electric has launched a channel programme to allow partners to create a Managed Power Service (MPS) practice, offering support tools and certifications among other benefits.

Dubbed the ‘Edge Software & Digital Services Programme’, this scheme allows IT firms to establish recurring revenues by offering remote monitoring and management of physical infrastructure across customer networks.

Described by the firm as the first programme of its kind, the scheme allows partners to build their own MPS practice. It’s built on Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure platform that was first launched in 2018 as a singular Internet of Things (IoT) management hub for IT companies.

An MPS is a managed service that’s based on various aspects of managing IT infrastructure for edge computing, such as the uninterrupted power supply. These include the remote monitoring and management of the power supply and physical infrastructure, as well as the use of data collection and analytics to improve the reliability and cost-effectiveness of the assets.

Schneider Electric’s new programme slots into its wider suite of partner programmes and has been devised in response to the recent expansion of edge computing

“The acceleration of edge computing presents an enormous opportunity for IT solution providers to increase their recurring revenue streams by selling Managed Power Services,” said VP for IT Channels at Schneider Electric Europe, David Terry.

“We have built a comprehensive program for partners that simplifies and speeds up the time required to set up their Managed Power Service practice. This will enable partners to address their customers’ needs, through effective monitoring and management of their customers’ edge sites, which is now considered a mission-critical priority.”

The programme comprises four elements including lifecycle rebates to offset initial setup costs, a step-by-step operational guide, certification paths, and access to Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure scheme. This includes 24/7 remote monitoring and on-site support.

The company claims that by establishing an MPS practice, IT firms can create new revenue streams by monitoring and managing customers’ physical infrastructure assets in their edge environments. This includes aspects such as power, cooling, as well as managing environmental as well as physical security.
