IAR Systems and Secure Thingz partner to streamline Azure IoT migration

Joint solution expedites device development and deployment for Azure IoT and RTOS platforms

IAR Systems and Secure Thingz have announced a development-to-deployment solution for Microsoft Azure Internet of Things (IoT) and real-time operating system (RTOS).

The jointly developed solution enables rapid device development and simplified deployment, ensuring out-of-the-box connectivity.

In combination with Microsoft's Cloud Device Provisioning Services (DPS), IAR Embedded Workbench development toolchain, and Embedded Trust security tool, enterprises can deliver solutions that feature unique cryptographic identifiers, secure software installation, integrated production management, and more.

IAR C/C++ compiler is compatible with most popular debuggers and emulators. It offers advanced global and target-specific optimizations, including support for ELF/DWARF.

Additionally, the end-to-end solution obviates any access paths for bad actors from development to deployment by safeguarding intellectual property, blocking malware, and ensuring trust across all connected devices.

"It is only by designing for security and cloud connectivity at the inception of the development process that we can truly ensure protection of devices, intellectual property, customer data and software updates," said Haydn Povey, chief strategy officer at IAR Systems and CEO at Secure Thingz.

Povey added: "Secure development and secure manufacturing of devices, coupled with tight integration of strong cryptographic identity and valet services to ensure OEM credentials are meshed securely into Microsoft's Azure services, means that cloud-first strategies are available to every developer and enterprise."

Static analysis tool C-STAT, integrated into IAR Embedded Workbench, identifies and details source code errors. Businesses can also leverage Embedded Trust to configure multi-purpose RoT based on the IoT devices' requirements.

"Building with Microsoft Azure RTOS and being cloud ready delivers the Microsoft vision for connected devices," stated Tony Shakib, general manager of Azure IoT at Microsoft.

"The ability to develop and deploy pre-onboarded devices which are implicitly cloud aware means everyone can rapidly connect devices to services and reduce time-to-data."
