HP has unveiled two new Chromebox mini desktop PCs, the Chromebox G3 and the Chromebox Enterprise G3, the first new Chromebox PCs in two years.

These new PCs include plenty of upgrades, including 4K video, powerful CPUs and more.

These tiny PCs measure just 5.87 inches wide by 5.87 inches deep by 1.57 inches thick and tip the scales at only 1.31 pounds. Despite their small stature, the HP Chromebox G3 and Chromebox Enterprise G3 pack the punch of a laptop in the hardware department.

Processing power for these Chrome OS PCs comes from a choice of five CPUs:

  • 10th Gen Intel Core i7-10610U Quad-Core (1.8-4.9 GHz)
  • 10th Gen Intel Core i5-10310U Quad-Core (1.7-4.4 GHz)
  • 10th Gen Intel Core i3-10110U Dual-Core (2.1-4.1 GHz)
  • Intel Celeron 5205U Dual-Core (1.9 GHz)
  • Intel Pentium 6405U Dual-Core (2.4 GHz)

They also include integrated Intel UHD Graphics and a pair of HDMI 2.0 ports that deliver 4K resolution at 60 frames per second that allow you to hook up two 4K monitors. You’ll also find a trio of USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, one USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 port and one USB-A 2.0 port.

Storage and RAM are customizable. You can opt for up to 16GB of DDR4 RAM and up to a 128GB solid-state hard drive. It also offers a microSD slot for additional removable storage.

Connectivity is upgraded in the G3 with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5. It also offers a gigabit ethernet connection for those who prefer a wired connection.

What separates the standard Chromebox G3 from the Chromebox Enterprise G3? They are virtually identical, but the enterprise model allows IT professionals to use the Google Admin Console to deploy software, update security, and more. They can perform these updates in the office or remotely.

The base will be available in October. The HP Chromebook G3 will start from $254, and the HP Chromebook Enterprise G3 will carry a $384 base price.
