Prime Day tech hardware deals: Snag some new gear with these top offers
Price reductions on everything from monitors to microSD cards
It’s that magical time of the year again; Amazon Prime Day has come once again to deliver a buffet of savings across a range of categories. As ever, there’s some tempting deals to be had on a number of tech products, including discounts on monitors, laptops, smartphones, storage, networking equipment and more.
While Amazon Prime Day isn’t an officially recognised holiday (yet), it’s become a regular fixture of the thrifty tech enthusiast’s calendar, and a number of other manufacturers have also decided to join in the fun, launching their own sale events which overlap with Amazon’s two-day extravaganza.
We’ve rounded up our picks of the best deals we’ve seen below; all of these offers have been hand-picked by us, and represent worthwhile savings over the usual ticket price. Although not all of the products below have been personally put through their paces by our experts, the trusted track record of the manufacturers means they should all be solid and reliable choices for their intended niche and use-case. Amazon Prime Day runs until midnight on 13 July, and unless otherwise stated, that’s when all the deals below will end.
Best Amazon Prime Day desktop PC and laptop deals
Our top pick of the various PC hardware discounts on offer is a very attractive 28% off the Asus TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3080 Ti OC Edition, which is down to just over £1,000. Act fast, though - this GPU deal surely won’t be around for long.
Best Amazon Prime Day monitor deals
If you’re in the market for a 4K upgrade to your home office setup, look no further than Samsung’s catchily-named U32J590UQR. Don’t let the clunky name put you off, though - this 32in monitor offers a 60Hz refresh rate and an understated design, and a 32% price drop means it can be yours for less than £250.
Best Amazon Prime Day smartphone and tablet deals
A one-day limited Prime Day offer sees the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 available at 45% off, reduced from an RRP of £199 to £109. Unlocked and featuring the manufacturer’s MIUI 12 OS, the Redmi Note 11 offers 4GB storage, Alexa Hands-free capability, the punchy Snapdragon 680 processor and a smooth, quick 6.43in FHD+ AMOLED DotDisplay.
Best Amazon Prime Day storage deals
It’s a little odd to think that you can fit more information than the average hard dive onto a card the size of a fingernail - and it’s even stranger to see a 256GB model for this low a price. Samsung’s EVO Select MicroSD card is reduced to just £19 in the Prime Day sales, which will get you a large amount of super-portable storage capacity.
Best Amazon Prime Day router and networking device deals
Asus ZenWifi Pro XT12 Mesh Router - Was £700, now £560
Asus offers stable yet nippy networking, with excellent performance in testing. This is a two unit mesh Wi-Fi system with one router and one satellite, capable of covering up to 557m2. Each unit offers two 2.5G ethernet ports, and a raft of security features. A 20% discount brings the price down to £560 - which may still be eye-watering for some, but you’re getting a huge array of bells and whistles, not to mention some of the very latest capabilities.
Netgear Nighthawk RAX70 Wi-Fi 6 Router - Was £300, now £195
Nighthawk is Netgear’s gaming sub-brand, with devices designed with latency and responsiveness in mind. With AX6600 offering up to 6.6Gb/sec throughput, this beast of a router boasts six antennas and tri-band support, alongside a comprehensive feature set typical of Netgear. With over £100 off, this is a great deal for those whose networks have a lot going on, and at a Prime Day price of £195, the 35% discount makes it a steal.
Netgear Orbi RBK753 Mesh Wi-Fi 6 Router - Was £670, now £440
Netgear’s Orbi range is the Rolls Royce of mesh routers, with prices to match, so to get over a third off the latest Wi-Fi 6 iteration is well worth a look. With a master router and two satellites, Orbi units communicate with each other on a separate frequency, leaving bandwidth free for busy networks, yet offering up to 6,000ft2 coverage, and up to 40 devices running simultaneously on each node. £230 has been shaved off the price bringing it down to £440 - not exactly the cheapest way to get Wi-Fi 6, but you’re investing in the bleeding edge.
Netgear PoE GS316P 16-Port Unmanaged Switch - Was £185, now £145
Unmanaged switches aren’t the most exciting aspect of computing, but they’re a crucial part of any wired network, whether in a home, SOHO or server environment. This one has the added bonus of PoE on every port, offering up to 115W of power for devices that can take power from Ethernet cable, plus it can be desktop or wall mounted. The Prime Day price is £145, meaning a £40 discount on RRP.
Netgear WAX610 Wi-Fi 6 Wireless Access Point - Was £175, now £130
If you use a network of access points rather than a single wireless router or mesh network - whether to offer your customers a hotspot, or to protect access to certain areas of your network - this is a great chance to upgrade to a fantastically well-rounded Wi-Fi 6 device offering AX18000 wireless throughput, and a 2.5G Ethernet LAN port. With Netgear’s Insight Remote Management, this can either be run with the power adapter or via PoE, and offers a 250-device capacity. It’s reduced from £175 to £130, making this a keen deal for business network buyers.
TP-Link Archer AX53 Wi-Fi 6 Router - Was £130, now £70
This sturdy, reliable router from TP-Link’s stalwart Archer range can be expanded with the purchase of OneMesh compatible satellite units, but even on its own it boasts AX3000 throughput powered by a dual core processor and protected by TP-Link’s Homeshield suite. Aimed at gamers, this device can also be voice controlled via Alexa and Google Home. Usually £130, there’s nearly half off this unit, making it £70 - great on its own, but easy to expand later if you don’t fancy one of the multipack offerings elsewhere on this list.
Best Amazon Prime Day software deals
McAfee Total Protection 2022 - Was £23, now £15
Controversial founder John McAfee may be gone, but his namesake antimalware suite, now owned by Intel, lives on in this comprehensive package - which also includes VPN access, password manager, dark web monitoring, and parental controls for 12 months on up to 10 devices. Usually charged at £23, it’s £15 during Prime Day, giving you comprehensive protection for a whole year.
Microsoft 365 Family - Was £80, now £46
Ends 12 July
Microsoft 365 is the company’s software suite subscription encompassing access to Office - with the suddenly tantalising prospect of Outlook without adverts, an allowance of Skype/Teams calls and a 1TB chunk of OneDrive cloud storage. This Family edition (formerly known as Home Edition) can be used by up to six family members across multiple devices including mobile, desktop and even Mac for a year before renewal. At £46 (down from £80), it means Microsoft 365 costs less than £4/month for the whole family.
Microsoft Office Home and Student 2021 - Was £120, now £82
Ends 12 July
For those that still aren’t ready to rent their software from Redmond, there’s still the option of buying Office 2021 outright for £82 instead of the usual £120. If you’ve no need for multiple users, don’t use cloud storage, and don’t mind constant reminders from Microsoft on what you’re missing out on, this is a good option for a single user, across PC or Mac.
Symantec Norton 360 Premium 2022 - Was £95, now £14
Norton is another long-running name in the world of malware protection, and this package offers one of the biggest discounts in our entire Prime Day guide - over 85% off. For that, you get 15 months of Premium antimalware protection on up to 10 devices. Sadly, this is a PC-only offer, but at £14, it’s hard not to justify it if you're in the market for some security software, though it lacks some of the extras of the McAfee offer above.
Best Amazon Prime Day PC peripheral deals
Anker PowerConf S500 Speakerphone - Was £230, now £160
Ends 12 July
Anker has made a name for itself for offering reasonably priced, high quality accessories, and its speakerphones are no exception. The S500 is part of the AnkerWork series for professionals and offers a great solution for meetings and huddle rooms, with certification for both Zoom Rooms and Google Meet. It’s powered by a single USB-C cable, but can also connect wirelessly to the host PC via Bluetooth. The company’s ‘Voice Radar’ technology focuses voice pickup while suppressing background noise. It’s on sale with a 70% discount, clocking in at £160, which represents great value for a longer-term investment.
Logitech Brio Stream Webcam- Was £220, now £109
Ends 12 July
Logitech Brio was one of the first 4K-capable webcams, launched as a flagship for both consumer and business users. It’s aimed at the videoconferencing market in all its forms, including Zoom, MS Teams, Google Meet as well as webcasting and vlog creation. It’s a few years old now, but remains amongst the best professional grade webcams on the market, with a noise-cancelling microphone and automatic light correction for consistent broadcast quality results at home. At £220, it wasn’t a casual purchase, but at less than half price, it’s worth £109 of anyone’s money.
Logitech StreamCam - Was £139, now £60
Ends 12 July
If the Logitech Brio above is a little overpowered for your needs, the Logitech StreamCam is a more modest investment for streamers and content creators. Capable of full 1080p HD at up to 60fps, this model is aimed more at YouTubers and Twitchers, but this USB-C connected webcam offers auto-focus, vertical video and AI-enabled face tracking so you’re always front and centre, making it a great option for video calling too. Reduced to £60 (over 50% off), it’s a great deal, if you’re not bothered about 4K recording.
Poly Sync 40 Speakerphone - Was £193, now £138
You may think you’ve never heard of Poly - but in fact, it’s a relatively new company formed by the merger of telecom stalwarts Plantronics and Polycom, instantly making this noise-reducing speakerphone worth a second look. You can connect to the host PC/Mac either using the combined USB A/C cable, or wirelessly via Bluetooth. It comes with Microsoft Teams certification, but works with other video conferencing apps, including Zoom and Google Meet. Its diminutive form factor - about the size of a powerbank - makes it perfect to move in and out of flexible workspaces. It’s available throughout the Prime Day proceedings at 28% off, making it £138.
Poly Studio P5 Professional Webcam - Was £150, now £61
Also from Poly and available for the next 48 hours at less than half price (down from £150 to £61) is the P5 - a full 1080p webcam with Microsoft Teams and Zoom certification. It offers low-light compensation and a 4x digital zoom, yet is portable enough to move from workspace to workspace in a pocket or bag. It comes with a monitor mount and tripod for maximum flexibility and includes a privacy shutter, so you can be sure you’re never on-air and unaware.
Logitech MX Master 2S Wireless Mouse - Was £90, now £37
Ends 12 July
Logitech’s popular MX series combines ergonomic hardware with some incredibly fancy software called ‘Flow’. It connects either with the included USB dongle or via Bluetooth and allows you to move between multiple machines running Flow, simply by dragging the cursor from one screen to the other - it even lets you drag and drop files from one machine to the other. With matching keyboards that ‘flow’, following the mouse cursor’s cue, it’s a comfortable mouse to use, with a thumb roller and configurable buttons - and at £37, down from £90, it’s a great introduction to a genuinely innovative ecosystem for users of multiple devices.
Dell UltraSharp 4K Webcam - Was £172, now £146
Ends 19 July
If you’re looking for a 4K webcam and you missed out on the Logitech Brio above, Dell has you covered with its own UHD offering, which also boasts HDR and offers a wider colour gamut, with blacker blacks and whiter whites. It’s a companion to Dell’s high-end Ultrasharp monitor range, but it’ll work with any display or laptop. It’s powered by a Sony STARVIS™ CMOS sensor, which Dell says will “denoise” your pictures, whilst giving you a choice of field of view angle and AI-enabled framing, keeping the speaker in the centre of the picture. Although it's not priced as keenly as the Brio, this offer is open through to the 19th July, and with 15% off, making it £146, it’s still definitely worth a look.
Data centre deals from Dell PowerEdge servers
Not to be outdone by Amazon, Dell EMC has a range of data centre products on 35-40% discount for the next week or so. While not the usual Prime Day fare, these rack servers are all outstanding examples of data centre engineering, and given the significant discounts on offer, infrastructure managers could save themselves a packet on their next IT refresh by snapping them up now.
There are several rack servers on offer, including the entry level R750xs with a 2U dual-socket configuration (£2,598 - down from £4,190), the more sophisticated and fully featured R650 (£3209 - down from £5.176), the smaller single-socket R350 for those on a budget (£1,844 - down from £2,975), and the turbo-charged “bedrock” R7525 (£4635 - down from £7,357). If you’re looking for something in a Tower Server, the T550 (£3,047 - down from £4,687) offers bang for your buck in a more manageable form factor.
All of these products were award-winners when we reviewed them (although bear in mind that configurations on offer may vary) and the deep price reductions make them well worth a look for anything that’s in the market for some extra on-premise capacity. All Dell’s server deals are available until 19 July.
