Exertis partners with TES to offer old devices “second life”

Right to repair

Exertis has announced a new partnership with lifecycle solutions provider TES, in a move the distributor says will provide its customers with the ability to give aged devices a “second life”.

TES specialises in extending the life of tech assets through its global network of facilities, which include a soon-to-open 102,000-square-foot facility in the West Midlands.

The provider ensures data security throughout the process, making sure devices are first made completely free of historical data before they are remarketed and reused. Should recovery and remarketing not be possible, TES promises the lowest possible environmental impact through specialist e-waste recycling plants.

“TES is delighted to be selected as the approved partner in the UK for Exertis to support the independent reseller programme for all ITAD, Recycling and related services,” said Steve Graham, vice president and general manager EMEA, at TES. “Recently recognised as the largest global ITAD provider by Gartner, TES is well-positioned to support the reseller programme, end-to-end.”

TES says it is on a mission to securely, safely, and sustainably transform and re-purpose 1 billion kgs of assets by 2030.

The firm uses certified erasure software Blancco and certified engineers to erase media on old PCs, laptops, mobile devices, loose drives, servers, and storage systems. Its data sanitisation is performed by the new NIST 800-88 R1 standard, which is recognised by governments, OEMs, and global 2,000 companies.

“Security, sustainability and services are at the heart of everything we do,” Graham continued. “This collaboration will provide Exertis, its resellers, and ultimately the end-user with the confidence that legacy and obsolete equipment from Enterprise, Computing or Mobility categories are processed and managed to the industry’s strictest controls, ensuring that maximum security and protection of the environment is guaranteed.”

Exertis says this new partnership marks one of the ways it will boost corporate responsibility and sustainability in 2021.

“We are truly excited to be partnering with TES, given both the importance of safe and thoughtful recycling of IT hardware and the supporting of our resellers in expanding their ability to offer more services to their end users,” commented Angelo Apa, global head of Enterprise Vendor Management at Exertis.
