eBay Classifieds group selects Juniper's SDN solution

Global networking

eBay Classifieds group has chosen to roll out Juniper Networks' Contrail Networking solution to create highly scalable, virtual overlay networks to boost agility.

The online classifieds marketplace opted to implement Juniper's solution to make it easier for its customers to buy, sell, trade and connect.

eBay Classifieds group chose Juniper Networks' product because it offered reduced time to build, making it faster to get its classified platform online, taking just a few hours for the services to be deployed in multiple countries across the world.

The group also needed a solution that could support multiple internal clients and various testing and production methods in use by the different territories, which Juniper Networks' open technology was able to do.

“eBay Classifieds Group helps people find whatever they are looking for in their local communities," Maarten Moerman, manager of network engineering at eBay Classifieds Group, Netherlands.

"We are proud of the trust we earn from people when they visit, connect and trade on any of our global sites. We constantly create new innovative services that can deliver substantial value to our customers. Juniper, with its customer-first approach, provides us with the network but also enables us to provide an excellent customer service."

eBay Classifieds group's new platform also allows problem resolution between buyers and sellers, which Juniper Networks' Contrail Networking solution was able to handle and as a result, problems can be fixed faster than before.

“High-performance companies like eBay Classifieds Group need an open SDN solution for cloud that increases business agility through creation of highly-scalable, virtual overlay networks that are easy to manage and orchestrate," Jennifer Blatnik, vice president of cloud, security and enterprise portfolio marketing at Juniper Networks said.

"With Contrail Networking, eBay Classifieds Group can quickly incorporate new capabilities into its network, while decreasing development time.”
