Arcserve and StorageCraft sign merger agreement

The merger aims to solve the growing need for a single vendor to manage and protect workloads

Two hands shaking over a desk

Data protection providers Arcserve and StorageCraft, which specialises in data management, protection and recovery solutions, have announced they have signed a definitive agreement to merge.

The pair said the combined business will form the most comprehensive global provider of data management and protection solutions for organisations, ranging from SMBs to large corporations.

The merger aims to solve the growing need for a single vendor to manage and protect workloads throughout the data centre, cloud, SaaS applications, as well as at the edge.

Ultimately, the move will create “meaningful new revenue opportunities” for MSPs, VARs and distributors, the firms added.

Post-merger, StorageCraft will be branded 'StorageCraft, an Arcserve company’, with the combined business to be led by CEO Tom Signorello, current CEO of Arcserve, and president Douglas Brockett, current president of StorageCraft.

“This merger will place us at the forefront of filling a massive market gap by supporting all workloads in every environment with one ecosystem,” Signorello explained. “No longer will organisations require ad-hoc solutions that only add to the complexity they are trying to solve.

“We will be better placed than any other vendor to be ready as new workloads arise and infrastructures evolve – providing certainty today and in the future."

By combining software and hardware platforms, the result is a comprehensive product suite that is equipped to tackle the majority of use cases and business continuity challenges.

Available via channel partners and distribution, the combined portfolio will span DRaaS, BaaS, SaaS protection, hybrid and converged data management, direct to cloud data protection, as well as workload migration to the cloud or other infrastructure.

The solution pool will simplify the selling process with solutions, services and support from a sole vendor, while also offering diversification to help partners expand addressable market share, scale revenue and create margin opportunities.

Flexible perpetual license and subscription business models will also further optimise market and revenue opportunities and enable friction-free commerce, the pair said.

Both Arcserve and StorageCraft also promised to fully support and continue to invest in their existing solutions to fuel rapid innovation for channel partners and end-users.

"Following the completion of the merger, the scope and scale of our combined businesses will allow us to bring a dramatically broader portfolio of solutions to market,” commented Douglas Brockett, President of StorageCraft.

“At the same time, it expands the resources with which we can serve our customers and ensures we grow hand in hand with our channel partners."
