Storage vendor Tegile Systems has announced that Bill Cordero has joined its ranks as vice president of worldwide channels.

The Newark, California-based company says Cordero will be responsible for expanding the global presence of the company’s hybrid and all-flash storage systems beyond their penetration throughout the US and Europe.

Cordero joins Tegile from StorSimple where he served as VP of worldwide channel and strategic sales. He has also held executive sales and channel management positions at Storwize, Data Domain, McDATA, VA Linux Systems and NetScreen Technologies.

“Bill has demonstrated his ability to successfully create and manage the expansion of channel programmes for several leading storage companies, and we look to leverage that expertise to further the global market penetration of our flash-driven enterprise storage arrays,” comments Rohit Kshetrapal, CEO of Tegile, who says that the vendor is dedicated to its “reseller-centric sales approach.”

He adds: “We recognise that the growth of our partner ecosystem is the best and only way to expand the reach of our products to customers worldwide. Bill will be an instrumental part of ensuring we meet that goal.”

Tegile offers a flash driven enterprise storage arrays that it claims is significantly faster than all hard disk-based arrays and significantly less expensive than all solid-state disk-based arrays. The platform features both NAS and SAN connectivity, complete with built-in auto-snapshot, auto-replication, near-instant recovery, onsite or offsite failover, and virtualisation management features.

Founded in 2009, Tegile arrays are sold exclusively through the channel. It launched an EMEA channel programme last October, and is currently distributed by Big Technology (part of Exclusive Networks) in the UK.

“The combination of a compelling portfolio of hybrid and all-flash arrays, combined with a leadership team that understands the importance of helping customers overcome their data management challenges, makes Tegile a place that I’m eager to be a part of,” says Cordero.

“Tegile’s recently announced enterprise-class arrays perfectly balance performance, capacity and reliability at an affordable price point, making them an attractive option for organisations of any size, across many industries. I look forward to ensuring that these arrays are readily accessible to companies that are looking to leverage these attributes throughout the world.”

The vendor appears to have Dell Compellent in its sights, announcing it is seeing “a large number of companies making the switch” in the US.

Rob Commins, VP Marketing of Tegile Systems says this is “for any number of reasons – whether it is performance, lack of functionality, price or maintenance concerns. In all of these cases, we have been able to provide significant savings from a storage utilisation, performance to dollar ration and maintenance perspective.”

The firm says customers have the option to purchase units outright, lease them or go with a capacity-utilisation model through Tegile’s Agility Pricing Programme.
