Data storage may not be the most exciting topic in the world, but it’s a vital part of modern life - and if you often find yourself deleting old data in order to make room on your drive, then Amazon prime Day is the perfect opportunity to pick up some increased capacity. There’s a range of outstanding offers on all kinds of storage media, including microSD cards, flash drives, portable SSDs, internal disks and desktop appliances.

Although we’ve not tested all the models below, the deals have been hand-selected by our team, and represent strong savings - and most products listed have discounts across multiple capacities. All deals run until midnight on 13 July.

Check out our other Amazon Prime Day deals:

Best Amazon Prime Day removable storage deals

Lexar Professional 2000x SD Card 64GB - Was £83, now £55

The revived Lexar brand demonstrates that full sized SD cards offer speeds that microSD still can’t match - this one can handle up to 300MB/sec read speeds and is UHS-II certified, making it ideal for photographers and videographers who want professional quality with a third off. Its £55 represents great like-for-like prices, but there’s similar reductions on larger capacities if you find yourself in need of more space.

Lexar JumpDrive Fingerprint F35 Flash Drive - Was £67, now £36

This USB 3.0 flash drive offers a generous 128GB capacity with up to 150MB/sec read speeds, making it more than adequate for every day tasks and semi-professional use alike, but comes with the bonus of a fingerprint reader built in, ensuring that your private files are never accessible by prying eyes. At over 45% off, the £36 price tag is very tempting - unless you’re a Mac user, as unfortunately, this is a Windows-only device.

Samsung EVO Select 256GB microSD Card - Was £29, now £19

Finding cheap microSD cards is like shooting fish, but finding ones from name brands that offer genuinely impressive capacities and speeds is somewhat harder. That makes this 256GB UHS-I U3 card, capable of 4K UHD, a rare steal, and one of the best prime day offers we’ve seen this year, down from £29 to £19. And if you need a full sized SD card, don’t worry - they’ve even thrown in an adapter.

Best Amazon Prime Day desktop storage deals

WD Elements 18TB External Hard Drive - Was £454, now £223

A desktop storage device from WD, offering USB 3.0 connection and a phenomenal 18TB storage capacity - more than you’ll probably ever need. The Elements range is simply plug-and-play, with no device management, automatic backup or password protection, but it's Windows or Mac-ready, and the price is over 50% off, so it's well worth a look.

Best Amazon Prime Day internal SSD deals

Samsung 980 PRO 2TB M.2 Internal Drive - Was £348, now £197

WD Black SN850 2TB M.2 Internal Drive - Was £501, now £178

With M.2 firmly established as the leading format for modern PC and laptop storage, two top brands are offering 2TB upgrades for your machine. Both offer almost identical specifications, using the latest backwards-compatible PCIe 4.0 connections, producing a dizzying 7,000MB/sec read speed. The WD has a slightly lower price, and a USP in the form of a built-in heatsink, making it perfect for upgrading a high-performance machine. The Samsung 980 Pro clocks in at £197 (43% off), while the WD Black SN850 is a whopping 65% off at £178. We should warn that the latter’s heatsink requires a few extra millimetres, however, so make sure you’ve enough room under the hood.

Best Amazon Prime Day portable SSD deals

LaCie Rugged Mini 5TB Portable External Drive - Was £160, now £98

LaCie has evolved from a French storage brand to a subsidiary of the mighty Seagate specialising in ruggedised storage. This pocket sized (2.5in) drive offers an impressive 5TB of storage via a USB-C connection - a USB-A to C cable can be substituted, but it will impact transfer speeds. More importantly, it’s rubberised, and is therefore shock, drop and pressure resistant, despite being a traditional HDD. There’s even a two-year data rescue service if the worst happens. All in all, a good deal at its £160 RRP, but a great one at a discounted Prime Day price of less than £100.
