Samsung Galaxy S5 vs Galaxy S4: Do you need to upgrade?

We investigate whether the 2014 handset is a must-have

Samsung is known to put large batteries into its flagship device. Unlike Apple, Nokia and Sony, the Korean firm allows users to replace the battery by popping off the back cover. This increases the longevity of the device and power users can carry a spare if they want.

Galaxy S4 - Powered by a 2,400mAh battery pack, the device also has a basic power saving mode.

Galaxy S5 - Samsung has used a larger 2800mAh battery for the S5. Samsung has debuted a Greyscale mode and an Ultra Power Saving Mode. The latter shuts down all battery hogging features and turns the display black and white - adding days to the lifespan.

Below are the test results when comparing the S4 to the S5. The S5 was more effienct as expected with a marked improvement in GPU power consumption during gaming. However, the S4 still posts excellent results in its own right.
