Samsung Galaxy S5 vs Galaxy S4: Do you need to upgrade?

This is an area where the S5 clearly outshines its predecessor. Hardware and software improvements also make the 2014 model one of the best camera phones on the market.

Galaxy S4 - Samsung included a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel camera on the front.

The Korean firm introduced features such as Sound & Shot (record audio with photos), Drama Shot (moving images), Dual-shot (use front and rear camera simultaneously).

Galaxy S5 - The rear camera has been upped to 16-megapixels, while the front-facing camera remains at 2-megapixels.

The rear camera has had a host of improvements. It's able to record video in 4k (3840 x 2160 resolution).

Samsung has increased the speed of Autofocus - which is now 0.3 seconds. Selective Focus allows users to concentrate on a particular subject in the picture and blur out the rest (see below). And HDR rich tone helps increase the clarity in pictures and video.
