BT's 4G superfast broadband service will be rolled out to businesses over the summer, running on EE's existing 4G infrastructure.

BT is the last network to roll out its 4G broadband after it won a significant chunk of the spectrum in February 2013, paying 186 million for three blocks in EE's and Vodafone's 2.6GHz band.

A BT spokesperson told CNET: "We will launch innovative new mobility services for business in the coming weeks and the first consumer services by April next year. The first consumer services will use our MVNO deal with EE."

BT says its 4G services can provide a number of benefits for companies including enabling employees to make use of mobile data way beyond email and calendaring. It can also be used for better quality videoconferencing, saving time and money.

"4G gives more reason than ever to make the most of the cloud. Back up valuable data so it'll never be lost. Or use your tablet to download and showcase catalogues or brochures to customers and save on expensive printing costs," the website says.

The company said businesses can expect to save up to 37 million work hours per year by 2015 if they switch to 4G.

BT's 4G will cover 70 per cent of the UK and anyone signing up to its business or consumer service will get free access to its Wi-Fi hotspots around the country.

Businesses can now register their interest in signing up to the company's 4G service, but, as yet, there's no information on pricing.
