Samsung shares first industry speakers for 2016 developer conference

Conference will give developers a first look at Samsung’s upcoming mobile, IoT and VR tech

Registration for Samsung's 2016 developer conference, which takes place next week, is now open, with speakers from Cisco, IBM and Unity Technologies already confirmed.

The Samsung Developer Conference (SDC) will take place from 27-28 April at the Moscone West Centre, San Francisco. Samsung said it has lined up more than 100 industry speakers to "educate, innovate and inspire attendees" through at least 70 sessions and keynotes.

Attendees will be able to see Samsung's latest innovations across many of its sectors, including enterprise, internet of things (IoT), smart TV, VR, mobile and wearables.

Among the sessions, DJ Koh, president of mobile communications business at Samsung Electronics, will discuss the smartphone maker's vision for "connecting the future". Curtis Sasaki, vice president of Samsung's strategy and innovation center, will share its plans for IoT. And Sang Kim, VP of content and services for Samsung's visual display business, will talk about the new business opportunities with Samsung smart TVs in 2016.

Meanwhile Unity Technologies CEO John Riccitiello, David Kenny, general manager of IBM Watson, and Cigna vice president Eric Consolazio, will share their views on how to innovate for the future.

Developers will also have the opportunity to get hands-on time with Samsung's latest hardware and software development kits (SDKs).

A full pass to the conference will cost attendees $499 (347) cheaper than Google I/O ($900) and Apple's WWDC ($1,599).

More information about the conference, including ticketing and a full list of the sessions can be found at www.sdc2016.com.
