Ericsson’s 5G Core Policy Studio simplifies network policy management

Ericsson has announced 5G Core Policy Studio, its new network programmability tool for communications service providers (CSPs).

Designed to reduce complexity in network policy management, the 5G Core Policy Studio can handle core network policies and deliver up to 70% savings in policy configuration operational expenditures (OPEX).

Seamlessly integrated with Ericsson’s dual-mode 5G Core, the studio also supports centralized 5G and 4G core network policy control and configuration, significantly reducing the time and effort required to install new services in the network.

“The 5G Core Policy Studio tool is a central provisioning engine that works at the core of the network. It enables access and control of all policies that manage different 5G and 4G services through one easy-to-use graphical user interface (GUI),” said Ericsson.

Casting light on use-cases, the company said its 5G Core Policy Studio will enable CSPs to dynamically configure services within network slices and tailor those offerings to specific user needs and network circumstances.

For example, a low-latency network slice can be dedicated to an enterprise handling machinery through remote controllers. Access to the network slice can be configured and set to a specific location within the enterprise premises and working hours. Additionally, a customized notification message could be sent to the enterprise via SMS when set conditions differ.
