UK Oracle User Group unveils new president
Linda Barker has 17 years’ experiencing implementing Oracle systems
The UK Oracle User Group (UKOUG) has announced a new president: Linda Barker, an Oracle customer of 17 years' experience.
Barker was voted in by members of the user group and begins her two-year term this month, following the departure of former president David Warburton-Broadhurst.
She was ERP director at design and engineering consultancy Atkins from late 2012, before which she held the post of group systems manager at the multinational for five years.
During her time at the firm, she led the implementation of Oracle ERP systems in Hong Kong and China, migrated to Oracle cloud ERP and HCM applications, and also deployed Oracle E-Business Suite in India and the Middle East.
She now works as an independent consultant on Oracle hardware and software.
"President of UKOUG is a challenge I'm very excited about. I'm looking forward to working with the rest of our board to carry on the great work done under David's leadership," Barker said.
"Together we'll work towards our aim of being the association which everyone in the Oracle community engages with and continue to serve this community by providing relevant products and services."
In her manifesto, Barker said she wanted an online forum/community for UKOUG end users in which they could share ideas and network, adding that such a resource would help crowdsource ideas to improve the organisation.
Warburton-Broadhurst said: "I have had a rewarding time working at UKOUG, it's been a great opportunity. I wish the best of luck to Linda as she takes up the new leadership and takes UKOUG into the future."
