Elon Musk joins President-elect Trump's Strategic and Policy Forum
He will join other tech innovators including Uber's Travis Kalanick
President-elect Donald Trump has selected Elon Musk as one of his advisors as part of his Strategic and Policy Forum, which will help the leader decide upon business-centric policies.
The appointement follows Trump's roundtable meeting with Silicon Valley's top figures, in which he advocated for more vocational education and asked tech companies for help eliminating government inefficiencies,
Musk joins a number of other leaders who have been selected to join Trump's team, including Uber's Travis Kalanick, General Motors' Mary Barra, JPMorgan Chase & Co's Jamie Dimon and Pepsi's Indra Nooyi.
They will collectively be responsible to give Trump business insights about the business world and how he can ensure he has the support of enterprises.
"The Forum, which is composed of some of America's most highly respected and successful business leaders, will be called upon to meet with the President frequently to share their specific experience and knowledge as the President implements his economic agenda," a statement issued by Trump's administration said.
Following his appointment as President-elect, Trump launched the Strategic and Policy Forum, explaining that it will be used to leverage the US' position in the world economy.
"America has the most innovative and vibrant companies in the world, and the pioneering CEOs joining this Forum today are at the top of their fields," said Trump. "My Administration is going to work together with the private sector to improve the business climate and make it attractive for firms to create new jobs across the United States from Silicon Valley to the heartland."
Both Musk and Trump agree that the US is a tech powerhouse and this provides a great opportunity to "make America Great again."
